Hot spot: Vienna

Untill Vienna I did not realize the depth of Romanian saying "If you do not have the head, your feet will be sorry". Though, according to local infrastructure, it runs great also the vice versa ... and all this simply because after several days on high heels on the mazy and saucy Viennese streets   you will wake up for sure with a strong migraine that will not go away too easy. So, before anything, pack sport shoes! If you will be inspired enough to do this, Vienna will provide to you many surprises ..... more >

VIP Interview: Dragos Anastasiu, ANAT president

7 Travel: Mr. Anastasiu, what criteria should use the tourist to choose a travel agent to work with to avoid the unpleasant surprises?

Dragos Anastasiu: First of all, he should look only for ANAT (National Association od Travel Agents from Romania) member agencies since the professional affiliation works as an extra warranty. We know each other, we investigate the travel agents licences... Definitely, an ANAT membership offers an extra warranty. Secondly, all people should look for a famous brand with good refferals from their relatives and friends, and so on. This... if you want to be 100% safe. Thirdly, he should guide himself following the flow of services in the visited travel agency: if he is welcomed with a smile, if the environment is proper for a travel business, and if he  feels good inside. Usually, when an offer is too tempting, people should be cautious, because cheap does not mean good. Generally speaking. Of course, this does not mean that there are not correct special offers in the market. When he compares offers from at least two or  three travel agencies and notices that all use the same level of tarriffs and suddenly an agency comes out with an appealing offer, he should be suspicious... more>

Editorial: The need for great holidays!

A great vacation helps us reconnect with ourselves, operating as a vehicle for self-rediscovery and making us feel good.

A great vacation recharges our  batteries and bring us closer to the beloved ones spending with them unforgettable moments. A great vacation improves our quality of life and... work, once we are back in the office.

How good it sound in theory! Especially when holiday offers flow from all sides. The travel advertising fills newspapers, magazines and Internet websites, making almost echoes in our TV sets. Question is “what do you do after you pay a lot of money for a holiday package and, instead of a 1001- Night experience you get a 1001-reason to be pissed... more>

Design Hotel: Altstadt Vienna - From passion to ecstasy

Sexuality, debauchery and decadence of the bourgeoisie were defining features of the period from 1900 to 1950 in Vienna. No other European capital has ever shown such a propensity for scandal and did not have the sophistication necessary to find in it a constant cause for celebration. This period influenced many artists and resonated in a flamboyant manner through the immortal works of Klimt, Schiele or Kokoschka. The modernity brought an homage to this period, since the design and the architecture have repeatedly attempted a return to classical joie de vivre. A successful project was completed in 1991 by Italian designer Matteo Thun,  a diligent student of Oskar Kokoschka..... more>

Trendy & Exotic: Las Vegas!

Known by stereotypes such as "New El Dorado", "entertainment capital of the world" or "Neon Paradise," Las Vegas barely resembles to the "lawn" in the middle of the desert as Mexicans called it, 103 years ago. The landscape has changed completely since gambling was legalized in 1931 and first casino- Flamingo Hotel (owned by the mobster Bugsy Siegel) - was opened; over 37 million tourists invading yearly the desert in search of  the "forbidden fruit" ... more>

Shopping sezon: 1001 nights in the Gold City - Dubai

Trendy, chic, cosmopolitan, accessible to any individual - regardless of nationality or race, and above all any budget -, Dubai has transformed itself, almost overnight, from Middle East No. 1 shopping destination to world  No. 1 destination.

Its mottos  -  "buy until you die"  or “think big” - were appealing, many people, from ordinary to VIPs such as Mel Gibson, Gwen Stefani or Paris Hilton  declaring recently their preference for a destination that seems detached from 1001 Nights fairy tale...  more >

Gourmet guide: Auvergne, Franta

Gourmet - a term established by the 18th century to define a connoisseur in the art of wine tasting -, has expanded its meaning to become almost a lifestyle.  Nowadays, gourmet means to live by the canons of a simple life, balanced, refined, and to prepare a dish by the same rules providing that it is delicious, smells gorgeous and includes the freshest ingredients. Basically, the creators of gourmet food choose quality over quantity and focus on cooking to maximize flavor..... more >

Top spa: Lausanne Palace & Spa, Switzerland

Health through water (salus per aquae), in brief -  spa, is one of the most en vogue trends in leisure tourism. Started from the ancient Ayurvedic methods, continued by Babylonians and Greeks (who used to dive in warm water or cold mineral springs), the spa concept spread all over the world and gained an increased popularity. First, the Romans had launched the famous spa thermae in 25 BC to be followed, several hundred years later, by  Japanese, who gave a new dimension, creating sites and Onsens and later ryoken inns (meeting places for socializing and relaxation). Sauna, invented by Finns in the year 1000 AD, was added to those above and it was associated with cold water baths and vodka cures, quite popular even today. But the fact that alcohol was not a sine qua non was proved later by Turks, launching their famous hammams  - steam bath, where massage was intensively practiced... more>

Destinations & Prices: D & P - Namur, Belgium; Split, Croatia;
Slovenja; Antalya, Turkey; Sinaia, Romania; Thessaloniki, Greece;
Predeal, Romania

Namur, Belgium: Namur, capital of Wallonia, is a little town as picturesque as almost unknown, even if the lure of European Union brought Belgium  to the forefront as a bonton destination. Mentioned in the novels of Alexandre Dumas and often visited by Baudelaire, it keeps an unparalleled charm of 17th century emphasized by Citadelle, the fortress which dominates from the top of the hill on which it was built, and by the old district Le Corbeil with brick houses, bordered by rivers Sambre and Meuse ...
